October 2007 Member of the Month - Rick Breed

President Weiss and I are pleased to announce Rick Breed as October’s Member of the Month. Rick was born in Hackensack, NJ. Rick joined the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad during August of 1999. Shortly after joining he went off to Virginia Tech, attending until 2005. Rick majored in “Interdisciplinary Studies” with minors in “Science Technology Studies” and “Audio Technology.” While at Virginia Tech, Rick met his wife, Sarah, of two years. Rick has served as Engineer for the past 3 years and currently serves as both Engineer and Squad Truck Lieutenant. Rick has been a part of the Committee that is responsible for creating specifications for the much anticipated new Squad 13. They finalized the specifications to put out to bid two weeks ago. On September 20th, Rick was part of a team that went to the Horton factory to accept delivery of Ambulance 133. He went over 133 with excruciating detail, resulting in some repainting to occur at the factory, as well as some modifications. He was able to drive 133 back to Virginia the next afternoon. Lucky for us, Rick also works for Fesco, so he has been the person to letter 131, 134, 135 and 133. In his spare time, Rick enjoys reading, watching television (The Office, Scrubs and Grey’s Anatomy) and working on cars. As an organization, we’ve certainly kept him busy keeping our apparatus road worthy. Rick’s willingness to drive 8 hours to bring home our ambulances again and again (3 so far this year) proves why Rick is our Member of the Month! Thank you for all you do!
