June 2008 Member of the Month - Nate and Karland Moore

This month we are pleased to announce two members that will be receiving special recognition. Both Nathaniel “Nate” and Karland Moore are Junes’ Members of the Month.
Nate was born in Clarksburg West Virginia. While still very young, his parents Micha and Mark, and sister, Whitney moved to Loudoun County. Nate is a 1999 graduate of Broad Run High School. He attended Highland Community College and in 2005 received an Associates Degree. He joined our squad in August of 2000. Nate is a Loudoun County Fire Rescue employee, graduating from recruit school in February 2007. He is currently attending a class that will earn him an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate certification. Some nights Nate can be heard responding at 1375. He is also our Gear Sergeant.

Karland Moore is a 3rd generation Loudoun County citizen. Karland was home schooled during high school. Her parents are named Melvin “Tinker” and Leighanna Baker. Karland has an older brother named Josh. She joined our squad in November of 2005. Karland is currently employed as a nanny. Karland is our Sunday night Crew Leader.
Nate and Karland met at the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad in November 2005. They were married on September 22, 2007 at the Leesburg Baptist Church by our very own Reiff Leisher. They honeymooned in Palm Springs, California. They have two cats, Epi and Pierce. Their hobbies include rescue and renovating their town home in Round Hill. Because of their continued dedication and all their help setting up, during and after the May 2008 Open House, they have earned the distinguished Members of the Month award. Congratulations!
